A New Reign in the DVD World

Human needs for home entertainment becomes the main driving force in creating many new innovations. After the era of video format such as VHS (Video Home System), Laser Disc and VCD, now DVD (Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc) has become more and more commonly and widely used, especially for those keen on watching movies and would like to enjoy them at home.

Compare to other video formats, DVD yields the best quality in pictures. As of now, there are many films produced using this format and is easy to get anywhere.

Additional features to the DVD players are also in line, such as zooming ability, progressive scan and complete video output, now become general features and facilities commonly found in every player.

Technological advances have also come up with recordable features, for recording TV channels or pictures from camcorder. This kind of the player is then dubbed as DVD recorder.

Nowadays there are 2 kinds of DVD recorder:

1. Without harddisk. Its recordable feature must be accompanied by using a piece of a recordable disk (this disk could then be filled with data, pictures, sounds or films).
2. With harddisk -namely Hard Disk Drive DVD Recordable. It could directly record data to the harddisk, so it does not need a disk anymore.

Additionally speaking, a capacity for a piece of DVD recordable disk is 4,7 GB or equal to 4 hours of maximum recording. With recorder technology, one could easily record a TV show. You will never miss an episode.

Notice that when you want to buy a device with recorder feature, you should consider your needs. If you enjoy and often record favorite TV shows, you'd better pick one that comes with harddisk.
